The Public Relation Officer is responsible for dissemination of relevant news and information to the public through media. Duties and responsibilities of PRO are
- Assisting media persons at the crime scene
- Providing useful/ relevant information to media on call
- Preparing and distributing press Releases
- Arranging News conference
- Coordinating the release of authorized information
- Publishing of Police related magazine
- Arranging media interviews with Police Officers
- Ensuring timely public feedback to the Senior Police Officers
- Working as liaison officer between media and Police Department
Model Police Stations
In today’s world peace and security are the yardsticks to measure the scale of prosperity of a nation and also for its further growth and development in all walks of life. To make the life more safe around, and to bring revolutionary changes in thana culture. The District Police Rawalpindi has setup Model Police Stations taking from infrastructure to the actual policing that is prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of the criminal. The Model Police Stations are different compared with the previous archaic setup. Beside introducing state of art infrastructure facilities measure have been taken to address public grievances at the earliest in a more speedy and unbiased way while introducing most modern methodologies in all.
Police Record and Office Management Information System
Our world has now turned into a global village owing to the age of information technology. Keeping in view the new international trends in policing, Police has taken a step further in organizing police structure and its effectiveness through PROMIS (Police Record & Office Management Information System). PROMIS aims at computerization of FIRs, its related updates, record of criminals (POs etc.), daily crime bulletin, data of vehicle theft/ snatching & entries of all registers at Police Stations, etc. It, therefore, ensures effective Automation of Police Stations’ (PS) record and office management system of various police branches. In short, due to this system (PROMIS), Police is fulfilling all the international standards of a police organization.
Objectives
The project focuses to fulfill the following objectives:
- Provide basic IT infrastructure to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Automate police station record including FIRs and office management
- Provide the required services to various police branches
- Design Management Information System to facilitate operational activities of police
- Offer Enterprise Resource Planning solutions for police including finance & budgeting, assets & accounts, human resources, vehicle management, pay and procurements etc.
- Strengthen Police Training Institutes for IT training
- Provide data sharing facility within police department to enhance their operational capability to fight against serious and organized crimes.
Cell Tracking System
Police Department has also taken initiative for mobile phone tracking to attain the current position of a mobile phone; stationary or moving.
Mobile positioning is a technology used by telecommunication companies to approximate the location of a mobile phone and its user (bearer).
Human Recource & Management Information System
Basically the internal Human Resource Management of Punjab police is being done through the system and with one click, the total service record of the police officials is available. This system would go a long way in the career planning and decision making by the supervisory officers as regards to their subordinates. It is also integrated with Police Station Record Management System and Biometric Attendance System. In short, due to this system, Rawalpindi Region, Police is fulfilling the due international standards of a Police organization.
